Light up Palm Cove - 4th December 2010
The celebrations kicked off with the switching on of the Palm Cove Christmas Lights on the 4th December at 7.00pm. The Christmas tree's are located on the ground level of the Palm Cove Shopping Village and the lights were switched on by the Mayor of Cairns Val Schier with assistance from our own Tropical Santa and his helpers. once the mayor flicked the switch and the Christmas tree's and stairway illuminated the retail shops, business's and accommodation houses in this fabulous tropical village followed suit and turned their lights on as well. The whole of Palm Cove from the southern end of the esplanade along to the northern end of the esplanade was filled with sparkling coloured lights.

Operation Rudolph - 18th December 2010
A Palm Cove and Cairns Charity Fundraising Event
On the 18th December all the suburbs from Cairns to the northern beaches and Palm Cove will come alive with the stirring sounds of every imaginable search and rescue vehicle you can think of ringing their sirens, honking their horns and singing Christmas carols. So be warned if you hate noise make sure you have ear plugs at the ready and spare coins in your pockets to donate to the cause.
The fun begins from Cairns city esplanade with a cavalcade of emergency vehicles and Santa Claus cruising along the Cairns esplanade spreading Christmas cheer for everyone and at the same time raising funds for the Cairns Youth Orchestra and The Humor Foundation (AKA The Clown Doctors).
Organisers and all emergency vehicles will have buckets out for you to throw in your gold coins or crispy notes to assist these worthy charity recipients.
Christmas gifts would also be greatly appreciated for donating to the Salvation Army.

Big Surprise Celebrities Are Attending Christmas in Palm Cove in 2010
This years Operation Rudolph is set to be the biggest ever with the Cairns Youth Orchestra showing off their well honed talents entertaining the crowds and direct from Chicago USA "The Blues Brothers" on loan from the Belushi Estate and Dan Akroyd to play the part of The Blues Brothers. These guys are in big demand on the Las Vegas Casino Circuit and have a new television show due to premier in 2011 so come and see them performing live for Operation Rudolph.
So please residents of Cairns, visitors and tourists coming to Cairns and the northern beaches please join in on the Christmas celebrations and support this great charitable event and make other peoples Christmases as enjoyable as yours will be. It only takes a few dollars from every person to make a difference.
Christmas Eve Carol Singing - 24th December
Palm Cove's annual Progresive Carol Singing
This Year the annual Palm Cove carol singing procession will start at the Angsana Resort and move north along the esplanade. Palm Coves Tropical Santa, Mrs Claus and their helper will join the procession of amateur carolers along the esplanade calling into all the restaurants and accommodation houses along the way spreading Christmas Cheer, handing out lollies and glow sticks to the children. Everyone is encouraged to join in the procession and fun of the (amateaur) carolers.

New Years Eve Fireworks
When: Always the tradition in Palm Cove Australia New Years Eve Fireworks will be set off on the Palm Cove Jetty at 9 pm to ensure all families with little one's can join in on the celebrations.
Pack a picnic and set up along the beautiful Palm Cove beachfront esplanade for a barbeque and entertainment. Just be aware glass is not permitted on the Palm Cove Beach and to take home with you what you bought to the beach.

At the end of the fireworks display the Palm Cove Christmas lights will be turned off and packed away for another year
