It really is a big job trying to find the perfect location for the family holiday as you have so much to take into consideration like will my husband or wife be able to relax in a place like this, are there things for him/her to enjoy, what can we do with the children and which tours and activities are age appropriate for them?

Then you need to think about the holiday accommodation choices and of course a budget on how much you wish to spend on your holiday, should we book a holiday home or a self-contained holiday apartment or can we dine out for most of our meals so we can all really enjoy our time on holidays together?

The Perfect Sun Lovers Destination

Another thing to consider is the weather of course and sunshine is what most people are chasing on a holiday. Luckily here in Australia we have Tropical North Queensland which is a tropical destination all year round and we have the beautiful little beachfront village called Palm Cove which is only 25 minutes’ drive north of the Cairns International airport

Palm Cove is the go to destination for families as the resorts and holiday accommodation are designed for pure leisure and relaxation with lovely big swimming pools where you can lay in a sunbed whilst the kids play in the pool all day long or you can be right on the beach relaxing under the palm trees whilst the kids are building sand castles or playing on the swings and park equipment set up on the beach front.

Palm Cove Is A Safe Destination for Families

Another great thing about Palm Cove is that it is a small quaint village that is totally safe for families. The kids can wander the esplanade and buy snacks and ice-creams and mum and dad should not have to worry about them at all. There are no loud bars or pubs and no night clubs or riff raff to contend with in this idyllic little part of Australia.

Dining and Restaurant Options in Palm Cove for Families

Next to Palm Cove is Clifton Beach and here you will find a supermarket, butcher, baker, bottle shop, chemists, doctors and all sorts of facilities you just may need to call on for your holiday. You may wish to pick up some things to make breakfast at home, lunches or even some evening meals or you may wish to have a real holiday and dine out for every meal occasion so we have listed here quite a number of the restaurants in Palm Cove for you to consider for great value family meals.

Things To Do Things To See In Palm Cove with Children

When you holiday in Tropical North Queensland a trip to the Great Barrier Reef is an absolute must even if you have been out to the reef on other occasions there are so many islands and reefs to visit that you will return back with a re-newed appreciation of its beauty and the great thing it is here right on the door step of Australia for all to enjoy. There are so many wonderful tours and attractions in and around Palm Cove, Cairns and Port Douglas it will literally take you years to try them all

If you have little children who are not yet quite good swimmers we recommend you take them to a tropical island where they can go island exploring and play in the sand and when they wish can wander into the water safely from the beach.

Pontoons or platforms that sit out in the ocean are another perfect option for kids as they have all of the non-swimming items on them even grandma and grandpa can enjoy the day. Ride around the Great Barrier Reef in a semi-submersible submarine, glass bottom boat, on a scuba doo or even take a scenic helicopter flight from the pontoon to see the coral gardens from above the water. There are underwater observatories and lots of relaxation zones and other place and ways to see the marine life and corals of the Great Barrier Reef.
