There’s a variety of cafes, upmarket restaurants and boutiques to explore during your stay.
Easy access around the town, accessible limited mobility accommodation and even a beach wheelchair which is available to borrow from the Palm Cove Surf Club making this the perfect location if you’re a wheelchair user or have mobility restrictions.
A level concrete pathway on Williams Esplanade makes it easy to enjoy the postcard pretty palm fringed beach of Palm Cove.
It’ll be hard to resist the water for long and if needed, you can hire (for free) the beach wheelchair from the Palm Cove Life Saving Club (available during patrol hours).

Call them on (07) 4059 1244 or Surf Life Saving North Queensland on (07) 4049 1200 between 10.00am and 2.00pm. The large balloon tyres on the beach wheelchair allow the chair to glide over the sand unlike conventional wheelchairs.
PALM COVE DISABLED ACCOMMODATION
There’s a variety of accommodation in Palm Cove for disabled persons on our website but here’s a couple of quick suggestions to get you started. To see all hotels and resorts with disabled accommodation facilities tick the wheelie icon filter on the left side of the screen at top of this page.
As its name suggests, is located opposite the beach and the surf lifesaving tower on Williams Esplanade. A good choice of restaurants, bars and shops are all within easy reach.
Room 104 is a 1 room pool view studio with a separate annex. It has a king bed which can be turned into a twin bed and there is a double bed for other family members or carer in the annex section.
This room is wheelchair accessible and has a small kitchenette. The microwave and bar fridge will help you with self-catering some meals but with a wide selection of restaurants within easy reach you may prefer to relax and have someone else do the cooking whilst you gaze over the waters of the Great Barrier Reef.
The bathroom is accessible with grab rails throughout, height adjustable shower head and a hob-free narrow shower. A shower chair can be pre-booked for your use during your stay. (Cost approx. $15 weekly)
A ramp will give you easy access from the main street to the apartment block and there’s a lift to take you to the accessible apartment.
The pool area is accessed via stairs so not wheelchair accessible. No ramp to pool at this time. BBQ area accessible for wheelies
This large resort complex is on the main street of Palm Cove and home to the largest swimming pool in town.
It’s large free-form lagoon pool has shallow wading areas for children and a large deck with a mixture of shade and full sun for relaxing poolside. There is no wheelchair accessible ramp into the swimming pool.
A great selection of restaurants and bars are within the resort complex overlooking the beach.
Perfect for families is the 1 x 2 bed family room that has 2 queen beds, a bathroom that is wheelchair accessible with grab rails, and a basic kitchen with hot plates, microwave oven and fridge. Access to room is via elevator.
There is one Studio Hotel room with a queen bed and grab rails in bathroom, hot plate, microwave and mini bar as the basic facilities. Hotel rooms are quite small so this room would be best if you had some mobility to negotiate a bit of walking around the room.
Although not fully wheelchair accessible the apartments are spacious and may be suitable if you have some mobility.
The inclusions vary in each but as an example, the three bedroom compact apartment has two bathrooms, one with a bath and the other with a large shower (with hob).
This accommodation features a full kitchen, large lounge-dining area, spacious bedrooms and laundry facilities.
Disabled parking is available onsite.
Only one disabled room is available at this lovely beachfront resort in the center of Palm Cove on the ground floor.
A studio bedroom and lounge combined in the one room, overlooks the tropical gardens.
No cooking facilities, mini bar facilities, wheel chair accessibility into the shower which has a larger space, seat in shower and handrails are fitted around the bathroom.
There are no ramps for access into the swimming pool itself but this is a lovely space with a calming waterfall to relax and enjoy a cocktail or two.
The beachfront restaurant has a wheelchair ramp and easily accessible.
This great family resort has 2 x disabled Standard Studio rooms with wheelchair ramp access into the rooms on the ground floor.
These rooms overlook the lovely tropical gardens and have the basic tea and coffee facilities with a small bar fridge (not stocked with alcohol BYO).
The bathrooms have sliding doors and grab rails and wheel in shower. Please note these are not big rooms so not suitable for big wheel chairs.
Access around the resort is easy on all the designated pathways thru the lovely gardens.
Access to the swimming pool area is easy and there are grab rails for you to negotiate your way into the pool if you are able to take a few steps.
Plenty of disabled parking on site and easy access to the resorts restaurants.
PRIVATE LET HOLIDAY APARTMENTS IN PALM COVE
Whilst not being classed as catering for Disabled persons this lovely resort has had guests that required full hospital beds and gantries to be placed in the rooms, so we call this resort Disabled friendly!
There are 2 x 3 bedroom apartments that offer access to the accommodation via lifts. They also have roll in showers with wheel chair access and grab rails.
The kitchens are big and beautiful with full cooking kitchen facilities. These big 3 bedroom apartments can be locked down to 1 or 2 bedrooms also.
Access to the outdoors is via the beautifully planned gardens and walkways and access to the swimming pool is via negotiating steps into the water.
The pool deck entertainment area is easily accessible and has great BBQ facilities and a disabled bathroom and of course there is disabled parking on site.
This resort works with Mobility Solutions in Cairns should you require any carer assistance or hire of equipment.
Ground floor, unit 601 is a 2 bedroom self-contained apartment with queen bed and 2 singles, wheelchair accessible, roll in wheelchair shower, no grab rails, full kitchen no ramp into swimming pool.
Unit 603 is also a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 kings or split into singles. Walk in showers.
This is a luxurious apartment with full kitchen.
Sea Temple Apartment number 314 is a 3 bedroom fully self-contained unit with a few grab rails placed around the apartment.
You could make it a 4 bedroom apartment with the studio room next door room number 315 if necessary.
There are grab rails around the bathroom and it’s a walk in wheel in shower.
Bedding is 3 x king splits and the studio room next door has a queen bed. Access is via the resort elevator.
Commanding a prime location on the beachfront access to the holiday apartments in Island Views is via ramp access in the car park lifts.
Each big apartment has roll in showers, no grab rails, big kitchens and amazing ocean views.
Some have fab barbeques on the balconies.
Located within the Mantra Amphora Resort complex is apartment 612 on the ground floor.
This is a 2 bedroom unit (612A & B) but also can be a 1 bedroom apartment.
No grab rails, can roll into shower, and view is over the beachfront.
Alamanda 11 is a 2 bed beachfront ground floor apartment with a roll in shower in the master ensuite.
All access is via the walkways and pathways on the beachfront direct into the unit.
Tranquility 7 has grab rails in the bathroom and the 2 bedrooms have 2 king beds which can be converted to 2 singles.
