The check in service was not friendly and cheery, like we had experienced in Port Douglas. Infact the check-in girl did not enagage us in any kind of friendly chit chat, or even greet us with how was your day. This was a bit of a dampener, especially since this was the first part of our honeymoon. The fire alarm went of at least 3 times during our stay and once it went off at 8am in the morning, with the offered explanation of someone burnt toast, I think they should get rid of toasters if this is the case.
The pool area and pool were lovely, as too were the rooms, but due to the lack of service and the fire alarm I would not recommend this hotel to any of my family or friends.

We stayed 3 locations during our stay! Rockford Esplanade for the main part, Angsana for our last night (was included as part of our wedding package as we got married there) and Sea Temple for our wedding night. All were fantastic, but Sea Temple would have to be our favourite, followed closely by Rockford simply because the quality and value for money were hard to beat. Most of our wedding guests stayed here (we had 90 come to the wedding from all over Oz, UK and the US) and they were VERY accomodating of our guests, changes and overall friendliness. Angsana is a wonderful wedding venue but find their beds extremely uncomfortable (we stayed there last year for 4 days and I came back with back pain from their poor bed quality).

We stayed at the Grand Mercure Rockford and were impressed with the location, and standard of the resort. Rooms were spacious, modern and clean. Great location, close to the main strip of Palm Cove. Would definitely stay there again. Weather was great too.
